Science and Sailing with Gaia combines the story of a voyage from France to Iceland by sailboat with texts describing the elements the crew encounters over the months. These include weather, atmospheric physics, geology, history and archaeology, as well as human genetics, descriptions of flora and fauna and their human links, not forgetting astronomy.
Barbara and Thierry make up most of the crew, and the boat is a 15-metre sailboat. The scientific texts are written by scientists, most of them Thierry's colleagues at the University of Geneva. They all appreciate free, original and accessible writing.
